It is called alternative because it offers a way of caring for our health that is not conventional or what we are used to in the Western world. In the Western world caring for our health is done mostly by the administration of medicines, many of which are synthetic, produced from sources which are derivatives of nature, not natural in the direct sense. A simple example will make this clear.<br /><br />Most of us in the older bracket of age are familiar with aspirin. I remember when I was a child, if I had a headache my father gave me aspirin to drink. When I had a fever, he would give me also aspirin. Aspirin is a drug in conventional medicine. Aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid. It is a synthetic drug, meaning, it is a drug synthesized from certain acids, principally salicylic acid. The natural source for this is the willow bark. But the willow bark itself is not used, only a derivative from this, the salicylic acid.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Not in Favor of Synthetic Drugs</span><br /><br />In alternative health care we do not administer aspirin. The person who has a headache may just need rest. So, we tell him to rest. If he has fever, this may be a result of something that he has eaten. So we tell him to drink plenty of water to clean out what he has eaten.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">The Whole Person Is Addressed to</span><br /><br />Secondly this alternative health care is holistic. It does not deal with the body only, but also with the mind or soul, and the spirit. In conventional health care people think that sickness is a physical condition. So the sick person needs a material medicine to cure his physical condition. He feels pain in his joints, so he is diagnosed to have flu or arthritis. And he is given a medicine to counteract this flu or arthritis, usually an analgesic, any synthetic drug which relieves pain.<br /><br />In alternative health care we do not just look at the body, but we also inquire into the mind of the patient and consider his or her level of spirituality. We do not just take care of the sickness when it strikes already but we also take precaution that it does not strike at all. When a person experiences headache we ask that person whether he or she has current anxieties and worries, whether his or her religious belief is strong enough in a God who cares and who can be depended upon at all times.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Before Synthetic Drugs Were Invented</span><br /><br />Actually we had alternative health care from the beginning of our race, since there were no synthetic drugs then. But with the advent of these drugs we gradually forgot alternative health care in favor of conventional medicine. One reason was that conventional medicine was fast and predictable. You do not have to search for the herb and boil it and make a concoction out of it. You just go to the drugstore, present the prescription your doctor gave you, receive the medicine from the pharmacist or his/her aide and pay for it. Upon reaching home, you just take the medicine. It is so convenient.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Disadvantages of Conventional Drugs</span><br /><br />But the recent experience of people taking conventional drugs is that they may lead to dependence on these drugs and larger doses may be required upon subsequent intakes. Furthermore there are bad effects in taking these drugs. These happen especially with antibiotic drugs. So people began to look for alternative ways of healing, one that is not heavily dependent on synthetic drugs and one that heals body, soul and spirit so that the person really becomes whole.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">A List of Alternative Health Care Methods</span><br /><br />Some of these alternative health care methods are:<br />1. Rest<br />2. Water Therapy<br />3. Pranic Healing<br />4. Hypnosis<br />5. Acupuncture and acupressure<br />6. Herbs<br />7. Magnetic Therapy<br />8. Chiropractic medicine<br />9. has many uses. At first it was only religious people who used it to
contact the deity they believed in. Later religious men and women in
the Catholic Church used it to perform their mental prayer so that
meditation became synonymous with mental prayer, one which is an
improvement on vocal prayer because the mind is no longer using words
but the ideas represented by the words. Then some persons found that
the practice of meditation can also help them in the cure of their
sickness without believing in something religious. Still later some
professional people discovered that they can use meditation to
maintain a sense of well being and relief from stress. </span>

have discovered that I can use meditation in order to really relax.
Before when I wanted to relax I would walk around the block where I
live, or see a movie (there was a time when every week I went to a
movie at least once), or play an outdoor game like basketball, or
play cards with friends, or listen to good music, or play some games
in my mobile phone (I used this when I could not sleep before) or in
the computer (I liked the Solitaire game). </span>

I found that instead of doing these activities for relaxation I can
simply sit and meditate and get as relaxed as th/ugh i h`d played or
listened to a music. I saved on time and money because I did not
have to go out and I did not have to buy any gadget like a ball or a
racket or a mobile phone. </span>

here I share with you how you can use meditation for effective
relaxation. In another article I dealt with the use of meditation to
deepen one's spirituality. The two uses are different and the way
they use meditation is also different. </span>

waking up and before working, whether at home still or in the
workplace before the scheduled time for work begins or in the
transportation going to work (if you are not the one driving) allot 1
to 5 minutes of meditation, no longer than 5 minutes. </span>

<span style="color: black; font-size: large;">Just
sit in a quiet place (if you are in a public transportation just be
recollected amidst the other passengers) and begin to breathe
consciously. Think of the oxygen you are inhaling, breathe deeply
and just allow the process of exhaling. Think of the oxygen going to
your blood and the blood being pumped by your heart to your brain,
giving oxygen to your brain. Reflect on your breathing this way for
seven times. </span>

<span style="color: black; font-size: large;">Then
think of the energy all around you, both the material and spiritual
energy all around you. The material energy comes from the sun, the
planets, the stars far away, the people, the animals and the plants
around you, the building where you are. Think of this energy. Then
think of the spiritual energy around you, electricity in your
building, the unnumbered electromagnetic waves passing through you
from radio stations, television stations and cable networks,
telephone services providers which include internet lines, the
limitless number of electronic signals all over you, the spirits of
your dead ancestors, the spirits of your friends around you, the
presence of the Spirit who is called the Almighty. </span>
</div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
</div>
<div align="LEFT" style="font-weight: normal;">
<span style="color: black; font-size: large;">Be
aware of these spiritual energies all around you. Think of them as
lifting you up to do your work efficiently and effectively. </span>

<span style="color: black; font-size: large;">Then
in your mind, thank the material energies and the spiritual energies
all around you. If you are alone you can lift up your hands and
think of the energies coming all over you, through your hands and
into your body. Then surrender yourself to the Spirit who controls
everything and entrust the success of your work to him. You may do
this with open or closed eyes. I do it with open eyes.</span></div>

<span style="color: black; font-size: large;">Now
you are relaxed, freshly conditioned to do your work. Proceed to your
work. </span>

are times when you have to stand up, get something, go to the comfort
room, take a snack, or just stare at your work. During these times
for some few seconds be aware again of the energies surrounding you,
the many spirits who are smiling at you, encouraging you to be and do
your best. In this way you flow with the energy in your work and
stress is minimized, you work as though you are moved by the waves of
these energies. </span>
</div>

<span style="color: black; font-size: large;"><b>After Work</b></span></div>

the end of your work, either in your workplace or at home before
retiring, just sit quietly again for 1 to 5 minutes, not any longer
then this. Reflect on your breathing, but this time as you exhale
you do it with force, thinking of throwing the toxins that have
accumulated during the day. Be particularly aware of the toxins of
anger and fear, think of throwing them away in your exhalation.
Think of the toxins from your brain going into your bloodstream being
pumped by your heart to your lungs and your lungs expel them outside
of your body through your nostrils. Be sure though that nobody is
around you, especially children. If they are around you they can get
the toxins that you expel through your nostrils. Then move your
neck gently around its base because the toxins are clogged there.
Loosen them and expel them through your exhalation. </span>
</div>

do not forget in your mind to thank all around you, especially the
Spirit Almighty, for helping you through the day. </span>

you do this every day, relaxation becomes a part of your daily life.
Strictly speaking you do not have to go out in order to unwind. You
are daily unwinding.</span></div>

you can supplement this meditation with music, candles, yogic

it. Now you can use meditation to relax effectively and you do not
have to get out of your way to do this. You can do it within your
home, your workplace, or while in transit to your workplace. This
is the better alternative to costly ways of relaxing. Happy

This is because despite the volume of what is written this problem persists to bother much of our population. Some experts say 20 to 50 percent of our population are so bothered.<br /><br />There have been many prescriptions already on the elimination or control of foul odor from our mouth. Some of these include oral hygiene, avoidance of smoking, foods and drinks that cause bad breath, particularly alcohol.<br /><br /><strong>Tips on Controlling Bad Breath</strong><br /><br />There have been many tips for the remedy of halitosis. These tips include brushing and flossing the teeth, rinsing the mouth, avoidance of foods and drinks with strong odor, keeping a well balanced diet, taking vitamin C to help the gums, eating yogurt, cheese, peanuts, and other foods that fight plaque build-up, eating less meat and more vegetables and fruits.<br /><br />I myself had this problem for many years. And I tried so many ways to eliminate or reduce my bad breath. These included using special kinds of toothpaste, some of them very expensive, rinsing the mouth after eating, eating only vegetarian foods, chewing gums, etc. And yet the bad breath persisted. Naturally I would be embarrassed, especially when people came near me.<br /><br />But here I will reveal what finally made me get rid of bad breath naturally. And you can try the same thing. I hope that you will also be successful in getting rid of this problem in your life.<br /><br /><strong>Combination That Gets Rid of Bad Breath</strong><br /><br />It is a mixture of ordinary sugar, glucose, eucalyptus oil and citric acid. This mixture is found in some candies that are sold in ordinary stores.<br /><br />I took this mixture for one week and my bad breath was gone.<br /><br />I have also recommended this mixture to my close friends and they also have experienced the same result.<br /><br />I discovered this by accident. I was also a victim before of abdominal pains. Whether the aches came from my intestines, or from my stomach, my gall bladder, or other parts of my abdomen I did not know. I used to take some anti-acid to get rid of these aches.<br /><br />But one time having no anti-acid, like any of these cremaline drugs, I took this mixture of ordinary sugar, glucose, eucalyptus oil and citric acid found in an ordinary candy. I experienced instant relief. When an ache would attack again I would take again this mixture. And I would experience instant relief. Until the time came when the stomach aches were gone.<br /><br />I noticed also that my bad breath disappeared. I do not have to take this mixture again and again. I just take it if I have some stomach ache. But as of this writing this is very rare now.<br /><br /><strong>Different Theory About the Cause of Bad Breath</strong><br /><br />Having experienced this I have a different theory as to the cause of bad breath. Researchers say that it comes from the mouth. They also say that it cannot come from the stomach because the esophagus is a closed and collapsed tube. But my theory is that some kind of bad breath may come from the stomach, not directly because the passage way is a closed and collapsed tube but indirectly.<br /><br />I base my theory on the fact that babies usually do not have bad breath. In fact they have a sweet smelling, pleasant breath. This is the case before they are able to eat meat. When they grow up and eat all sorts of foods, this pleasant breath disappears. Instead a foul breath begins to develop. Why do they have a pleasant breath when they are still babies? Probably it is because their stomach and intestines are still clean of food that rots, like meat.<br /><br />But this is only a theory. More research needs to be done along this line.<br /><br />But the fact remains that this mixture of ordinary sugar, glucose, eucalyptus oil and citric acid has eliminated bad breath from me and my close friends for the rest of our life. It is our way of reducing and even eliminating bad breath naturally. Look for these ingredients in the wrapper of candies in the store near you. Many of us have heard or read the story of that young Chinese man who was exempted from serving in the army because he broke his bone while riding a horse. Having a broken bone is an evil, but being exempted from serving the army was a great blessing. But this is not the case with halitosis or bad breath.</span><p></p><span style="font-size:130%;"><strong>No Good Thing in It Whatsoever</strong></span><p></p><span style="font-size:130%;">There is nothing I can think of that is good which we can get from bad breath no matter from what perspective we see it. It is bad and it causes bad things to happen in our life. Maybe the only good it can bring about is that we are prevented from whispering vulgar or obscene words to our close friends. But only on the condition that we are aware that we are emitting foul odor from our mouth. If we are not aware, we cannot even perform this act of kindness, of not breathing out foul odor to our friend.</span><p></p><span style="font-size:130%;">Maybe another good thing bad breath can bring is for the cosmetics and drug manufacturers to make money by producing would be cures for this problem. But this does no good to the sufferer of halitosis. You will be wondering why people do not move near you and you may even notice that they go away from you. Some of those who go near you may give you a candy, a gum or a mint. At first you think they are kind to you by giving you something to chew upon. But when this happens again and again, you begin to wonder why. It can increase your stress when working on something close with people. You become reluctant to engage in normal social activities, like dancing. If you always chew a gum, people may wonder and you look like a goat to them. People will be wondering why you yourself keep a handkerchief over your mouth. Halitosis can severely affect your personal relationships, even breaking them. It may even affect your marriage, especially in the morning after rising from sleep.</span><p></p><span style="font-size:130%;">The second bad effect is in your career. People who interview you for a job are likely to think twice before accepting you as an employee even if your records speak highly of you. They would naturally not want to associate with someone whose mouth exudes foul odor.</span><p></p><span style="font-size:130%;">During meetings you will notice that people will stay some distance away from you and you wonder why they avoid being close to you. </span><p></p><span style="font-size:130%;">An important contract may not be signed simply because your would-be partner in the business venture does not like your foul breath.</span><p></p><span style="font-size:130%;">Thirdly, if you tried several ways to get rid of it and you have not been successful, you think that you are condemned to this problem for the rest of your life. And your self-esteem suffers. And you are stressed.</span><p></p><span style="font-size:130%;">Fourthly, when this problem is not properly dealt with this can cause discomforts and even diseases in your body. The bacteria that cause this foul odor are messengers also of diseases.</span><p></p><span style="font-size:130%;">Finally, the worst affliction halitosis can give you is a low and lowering self-esteem. You become insecure about your self. Your self-confidence is undermined. You think you cannot be on the same level with other people. And then you cannot perform as best you can because of this problem.</span><p></p><span style="font-size:130%;">I almost forgot. Maybe there is one good thing halitosis can give you. You may realize your body is not that clean as you think it is. They may prescribe and discuss drugs or food that would help a person who has this problem. But they do not mention that the primary mechanism for solving this problem is within the human body.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Many People Have Constipation Problems</span><br /><br />To illustrate the gravity of this problem, let us cite some statistics. It is estimated that 20 percent of any population in the world have constipation problems. My body would emit a foul odor that was annoying to those around me in school and at home. So, I had to move my bowels. I was frequently constipated. One time I ate soap. It was not effective.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Some Prescriptions for Constipation</span><br /><br />Some prescribe a combination of banana, strawberry, lecithin, oil, milk, and apple, seeds of some flowers, magnesium. Besides the fact that you have to get these ingredients you have to mix them somehow. That takes some amount of money and time.<br /><br />If you have this problem, your doctor would tell you to eat the right food and shun away from the bad food. In addition he would tell you to drink much water. As a last recourse he would prescribe a laxative. And in all probability you would obey your doctor.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">The Cure for Constipation Is in the Human Body</span><br /><br />But as I said, the simple, effective remedy for constipation is inside our human body. The human body has a built in clock. If it normally functions, as it should, it has all the needed procedures to expel our waste, both liquid and solid. But all this takes time. And our human body knows the proper time.<br /><br />To prove to you that the human body has a built in timing device, try to take a nap when you are normally sleepy. Say to yourself that you will take a nap for 30 minutes. You will be surprised that at the end of 30 minutes you are wakened up by your own body.<br /><br />Or try this other experiment. When you sleep at night tell yourself to wake up at such and such a time in the morning, not so early, not so late. Let's say 6 a.m. You will be surprised that at 6 a.m. the next day your body would wake you up.<br /><br />This timing device of our body is precise so long as we do not disturb or abuse it. If we use it to wake us up in the morning, we follow it. If we do not follow it, it won't work anymore. Your body may no longer obey you.<br /><br />This timing device can be used to eliminate waste from our body. Constipation usually starts when we feel the urge to move our bowels but because of some work or business at hand, or we are in a transportation, we postpone it. This disturbs the timing device of our body, and the next time this happens, it is as if the brain tells us, "When your body wanted to move your bowels, you did not comply, I will no longer tell you about this later." The digested food will continue to accumulate in our large intestines and the muscles in the intestines will no longer notify our brain because when they notified the brain previously the body did not act on it.<br /><br />In other word the simple, effective remedy to constipation is to accede to our body's request to move our bowels and to have a regular daily schedule for this so that the body is used to the timing of moving the bowels.<br /><br />In doing this we prevent constipation from happening in our body. If you ask me whether I suffer from constipation, I answer that I don't get constipated anymore at my age when statistics say I should. While using a paper cutter we may accidentally cut also our finger. While slicing tomatoes we may cut our hand. While closing a car, a wire protrudes and scratches our legs. A wound ensues. Children incur wounds while playing or quarreling. We may not worry about the wound until it develops infection. It becomes irritatingly painful and swells. We go to our doctor and he prescribes an antibiotic to counteract the infection.<br /><br />A little knowledge can help us effectively cure minor wounds and prevent infection.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">For Minor Wounds Only</span><br /><br />The wound has to be minor, otherwise we go to our doctor to have it stitched. A minor wound would be one that is no wider than 2.5 centimeters or 1 inch and no deeper than one half of a centimeter or one fourth of an inch.<br /><br />The best home based remedy for minor wounds that I have discovered is moringa. Another name for this is horseradish tree because its roots look like radish.<br /><br />Moringa is a tree which can grow almost anywhere where tree can grow except in places with frost. In the Philippines it is grown almost everywhere. You take a handful of its leaves, rob them between your hands to produce a sap out of the leaves and spread the sap over the wound. That's it. Before you apply the moringa sap you may want to wash the wound first with ordinary clean tap water.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Effects of the Moringa Sap on the Wound</span><br /><br />The first effect of the application of moringa sap on the wound is that it takes away the pain. So it is a pain reliever.<br /><br />The second effect is that it stops the bleeding. So it is a blood coagulant.<br /><br />The third effect is that it prevents infection. So it is a natural antibiotic. Research indicate that moringa leaves contain essential amino acids, and are protein rich, have vitamins and minerals.<br /><br />The healing process begins. There is no need to bandage the wound unless there are flies pestering the wound.<br /><br />The process of spreading the moringa sap again on the wound may be repeated if you see some watery substance clinging to the wound or the wound has not yet completely closed. Otherwise one application is enough. In one or two days the minor wound is healed.<br /><br />In places where there are no moringa trees, moringa capsules may be bought in the drugstores. The leaves have been commercially turned into capsules and are sold as food supplements. Open the capsules and spread the moringa powder over the wounds. These capsules are a lot cheaper than the antibiotic capsules. Then we will discuss how it is done. We can only give the basics. This is only an introduction based on my learning of it and my years of doing the practice of pranic healing myself.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">What Pranic Healing Is</span><br /><br />Pranic healing is healing that uses the prana in our body. Prana is a Sanskrit word. It means life-force or the energy that flows in and through our body making us alive and active. It is a tragedy that this energy which makes us alive is not recognized as the energy also that makes us healthy. Because we do not use this life-energy which is also our health-energy we are overpowered by various ailments, many of which are minor, like the common colds or flu, but are irritating and make us less productive.<br /><br />In many healing sessions which we see on TV or in religious gatherings for healing we see the laying on of hands on the heads of people. This is a portion and version of pranic healing but the ones doing it mostly do not know why they are really doing it or why it is done to them. They may lay their hands because that is what they read in the Bible. They do not know the reason why such laying of hands is a means of cure.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">The Popularizer of Pranic Healing</span><br /><br />We give credit to whom credit is due. The one who popularized pranic healing is Master Choa Kok Sui. He wrote a book on pranic healing which can be easily understood by the open minded. I bought this book in 1989. After several tries, I was able to apply the directions in the book effectively. Master Choa now boasts that anybody can practice pranic healing with the system which he has explained so clearly in his book.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">How Pranic Healing Is Done</span><br /><br />A few guiding principles need to be stated first. Some of these have to be taken by faith because we cannot see the elements of these principles by our eyes. But they are there. And we know they are true because the techniques which are based on these principles effect cures.<br /><br />The most fundamental principle of pranic healing is that the body is a self-repairing living organism that possesses the natural capacity to heal itself.<br /><br />The second principle is that the healing process is made faster by putting or projecting the prana or life force or vital energy on the affected part of the physical body.<br /><br />A third principle is that our body is wrapped by a triple layer of energy. With the aid of Kirlian photography (named after Semyon Kirlian) Master Choa was able to illustrate that the human body is like an egg where there is the yoke or inmost circle of energy, the egg white or albumen, the middle circle of energy, and the shell or the outermost circle of energy.<br /><br />The fourth principle which is surprising is this. When a sickness is about to invade the body, these three circles undergo an imbalance or disfigurement. This happens before the person actually feels sick. In other words when the person is healthy these three circles of energy are well formed, like the three elements in a fowl’s egg: the yoke, the white or albumen and the shell. When sickness is about to come these three become deformed or misshapen.<br /><br />The fifth principle is this. When a person is sick the task of the healer is to restore the uniform or shapely formation of these three circles of energy. The healer does this by getting energy from his surroundings, especially solar energy if it is day.<br /><br />The basic technique is with one hand the healer absorbs energy from around him, like raising his open palm to the direction of the sun, and with the other hand he puts this in the direction of his patient, supplying this patient with energy to restore the balance of energy in his body. He does not touch his patient. He only puts his hand in the direction of the affected part of his patient. In my case I raise my left open palm in the direction of the source of the energy, like the sun or a big tree, and I extend my right open palm on the affected part of the body.<br /><br />But there is a caution before doing this technique. The energy around the patient is mostly polluted because of the sickness. This pollution needs to be cleaned. Master Choa has a technique for cleaning this pollution. Basically it is grasping this pollution by one’s cupped fingers and putting it into a fireball which burns this pollution. You do not see the fireball with your eyes but you make this fireball with the technique given by Master Choa. He also explains the different uses of colors in healing. All these are colors of energy and they are invisible to the eyes. There are different colors for different diseases and they have to be learned.<br /><br />A basic requirement for the practice of pranic healing is that the healer or practitioner has a modicum of the ability to concentrate. Those who are used to the practice of daily meditation have an advantage. But anyone who is patient enough to learn how to concentrate can perform pranic healing.<br /><br />After a while of practicing pranic healing you can feel the prana or life-energy vibrating in your hands. And you can project it to the sick parts of the body.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">For What Kinds of Diseases Is Pranic Healing?</span><br /><br />Pranic healing is not for all kinds of diseases. It cannot be used to readily stop bleeding or arrest the malignant growth of cancer. It is best for minor diseases like the common cold, cough, flu, or bacterial infections. These are indeed minor but they can cause so much inconvenience to our family and work if we do not take care of them. This discussion will also incorporate my own experience in the use of this “medicine”.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">How Much Water?</span><br /><br />Most literature on water therapy will tell you to drink 1.5 liters of water upon rising up in the morning, before brushing your teeth and before taking any food.<br /><br />When I began water therapy I did this, I drank 1.5 liters of water. Then I came across another literature which told me that the amount of water to drink is .64 liter. Eventually I settled for .75 liter of water. This was most convenient for me because most of the bottles for whisky contained .75 liter of fluid. So I just use an empty bottle, which had contained .75 liter of whisky before being emptied, to measure the water that I drink. I found out that I could drink this amount of water in one gulp, without stopping. Then I drink two glasses of water after every meal.<br /><br />When I first started with water therapy I experienced frequent urination after drinking the water. After a while this was no longer so. I would experience 1 or 2 urinations only within an hour.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">How Many Minutes Before Eating After Drinking Water?</span><br /><br />Also most literature will tell you not to take anything solid or liquid after drinking the water for 1 hour. Again I saw another literature which says that the time is 45 minutes. So I followed the 45 minutes.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">What Kind of Water?</span><br /><br />Some literature on water therapy says that the water should be boiled. I do not use this. I just use ordinary tap water that has been filtered.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Perceived Effects in My Case</span><br /><br />What are the perceived effects of water therapy? In my case these are its perceived effects:<br /><br />1. My body is cleaned. My body with the help of this water excretes its waste together with the toxins piled within it through urination and defecation. Because of this cleaning property of water, diseases borne in the food and beverages we drink are flushed out. There is no more problem of constipation. Bacteria that cause common colds and coughing are washed out of the body. I experience general well being.<br /><br />2. The skin of my body no longer experiences dryness and so, being moisturized I do not feel too much heat. I feel comfortable throughout the day.<br /><br />3. Water contains oxygen. This oxygen goes to my brain making me alert mentally. Thus water therapy helps me to think well and to concentrate on my work.<br /><br />4. I am no longer thirsty between meals. Unlike before when in between meals I have to look for water because I would experience thirst. Thus I save time and my work continues without undue interruption.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Diseases Cured by Water Therapy</span><br /><br />One literature lists these diseases as some of those cured by water therapy: headache, body aches, heart diseases, arthritis, epilepsy, excessive fat, bronchitis, asthma, TB, meningitis, kidney and urinary diseases, vomiting gastritis, diarrhea, piles, diabetes, constipation, all eye diseases, menstrual disorders, ear-nose-throat diseases.<br /><br />Some other lists are longer than this.<br /><br />The list is rather inclusive of most diseases. Since I do not have these diseases I cannot say I was cured of these diseases by water therapy. What I can say maybe is that my practice of water therapy helped me to avoid these diseases. Maybe. We have no proof. But it is wonderful feeling well with water therapy.<br /><br />Another list will even tell you how many days it will take you to cure a certain disease with water therapy. An example is high blood pressure. This listing says that high blood pressure will be cured after 30 days of water therapy. Diabetes will also be cured after 30 days, according to this listing. There are some testimonies which attest to the effectiveness of water therapy on these diseases. One can give it a try.<br /><br />What is important is that water is a cleansing agent, both inside and outside the body. Choose what suits you after experimenting with your intake of water.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">A Caution</span><br /><br />There have been too many testimonies in favor of water therapy. But we also have to take into consideration some observations that are not in favor of it. Medical experts say that there is such a thing as water intoxication or water poisoning. Well, as in all things the extreme is always to be avoided.<br /><br />Needless to say I do not use water therapy when I travel. Despite the fact that we are hearing and reading of new diseases coming up among the population, such as the dreaded SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), and others, health care is also improving. The new trend is that it is getting more patient centered and more close to nature. Here are some of the changes that we will continue to see in the following years.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">1. More Patient Centered</span><br /><br />The new trend in health care is that it will get more and more patient centered. More and more rooms in the hospitals are now air-conditioned for the convenience of the patient. More and more chemicals have been invented to fight off pain from the patient. Most injections are now administered no longer to the body directly but through the intravenous connection bringing liquid from a plastic container to the patient. The anesthesiologists have become experts in deadening the pain of an operation. The hospital building, rooms and surroundings are now cleaner than ever. Each room, even in the wards, have now a comfort room and bath facilities. In the 1980s there was a large government hospital for a million population which had only one comfort room for all the patients. This is no longer true today. Mercury-based thermometers and sphygmomanometer are now being replaced by digital ones, for the safety of the patients against mercury poisoning or contamination. Headrest in hospital beds can now be raised with a few turns of a handle. More wheel chairs are now available to move patients around with little discomfort for them. Ambulances are available to transfer patients from homes to hospitals and back to their homes or other hospitals. Indeed more and more conveniences are now given to the patients. We will see more of these as the years go by.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">2. A Return to Nature</span><br /><br />Another new trend in health care is that there will be more and more return to nature, particularly herbs as curative agents. After all people are discovering that these herbs are as effective as the synthetic drugs and there are no or less bad side effects. People are getting more and more conscious of the food they eat. The number of vegetarians is increasing. More and more people are taking food supplements. As a result food supplements have multiplied. In one report we have 639 pages of listing of food supplements, each page containing around 40 names of food supplements. Food supplements, especially, the ones based on herbs will continue to multiply.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">3. More People Taking Control of their Health</span><br /><br />We are going to see more people taking control of their health, especially in the area of preventing diseases. This is clearly now the new trend in health care. Perhaps this is just logical since the cost of consulting a physician is getting higher and higher, to cover up, some say, for the more and more expensive education the medical doctors are going through.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">4. Cheaper Medicines</span><br /><br />As a result of people returning to herbs, governments are pressing for cheaper medicines. We will have cheaper medicines. An example is the sale of dextrose which has become cheaper with the use of plastic containers rather than glass. Medicines will continue to be more generic and less expensive. There are more and more drug stores selling only generic drugs.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">5. Alternative Medicine</span><br /><br />In general people will be getting more and more into alternative medicines. These are medicines that do not fall within the category of conventional medicine, the medical practice most of us are accustomed to because of our western culture. These include natural cures, chiropractice, herbs, traditional Chinese medicine, pranic or energy healing, meditation, hypnosis, etc. The new trend in the use of alternative medicine will continue in the years ahead.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">6. Continuing Diversification and Specialization</span><br /><br />The diversification and specialization of health care personnel will continue to increase. Forty years ago it was the physician himself who put on the fluoroscopy machine, took the x-ray picture of his patient, analyzed it. Now we have medical technicians to do this. They even have a high sounding name now, medical technologists. Besides the ever growing group of medical specialists we now have the physical therapists for exercising the movements of the body, the nutritionists for the food of the patient, the health insurance company and the social worker for the payment of hospital bills, the hospital administrator for the management of the hospital facilities, let alone the chaplain for the anxious and dying patients. More specialized services will continue to appear.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">7. Distance Health Care</span><br /><br />If there is distance education there is also distance health care. This is the last new trend in health care that I see. We will have more of this in the future. It is very rare now for us to experience being visited by the doctor at our homes, as this was done 50 years ago. This happens now only among very close friends or relatives of the doctors. There was a time when a doctor would go around town treating current and would-be patients. That is gone now. We have now consultation by cell phones. A doctor has a radio program. The audience listens. The doctor gives his cell phone number. By and by he is inundated with text messages about this and about that ailment experienced by his radio listeners. And he gives advice on his cell phone too by text messaging his listeners. Who knows, later on we can have doctors analyzing their patients from a distance with the aid of electronic equipment.<br /><br />Indeed health care has evolved. Now that you know these are the directions health care is going to go, the new trends in health care, be more conscious of your own health. You owe it to yourself to be healthy.<br /><br />But these are just predictions. Be prepared to be surprised with newer developments in health care.
